I wouldn't have edited so many contacts if the broken pictures had showed up right away! The disappearance only becomes perceptible for me when I restart Outlook. I can re-upload a new picture after the first one breaks and it will stay there if I restart Outlook,īut if I make another edit to the Notes section, it will have disappeared again on a subsequent restart. The error happens whether the picture is pulled from our company's Global Address List database or was cropped, edited, and uploaded on my local machine. Edits to the mailing address, phone number, email address, etc, don't seem to affect the picture. I've narrowed it down: the error is only happening when I make an edit in the NOTES section. Me earlier this month) didn't have this issue.

Contacts cards that I edited before upgrading to Windows 10 (my employer upgraded My colleague who shares the same contact card folder with me, but who has not upgraded to Windows 10 yet and is still using Windows 7, does not seem to be having the problem. I'm having the same issue as of November 25, 2019.įor anyone googling: Microsoft Outlook 2016 Contacts Photos Disappearing After Edit I also have a few that show a white block in Contact Card view and the picture is gone now. It's much better, but I still have some rogue missing pictures. But it doesn't show in the business card view. The exact, same logo will work on one contact and not another even when generated at the same sitting. As I noted in another comment, I use logos when I do not have a photo. However, I still have some images that are not showing. I've checked this on images up to 2,000 pixels and 600 DPI and down to 150 pixels by 72 DPI. When you assign it to a contact, Outlook (at least 2016) changes the resolution to 120 DPI x 120 DPI and resizes the photo to 388 pixels maximum, height or width, maintaining proportion.Ĭonversely, if it is less than 120 DPI x 120 DPI it will increase it to that, but it will not resize it to 388 pixels. Now, what's it doing: Take a photo, any photo. Outlook 2016 still has an occasional blank image on contacts in the business card view in my case.

I wouldn't say it's fixed 100% just yet maybe 99+%. Running is safe mode won't tell me anything given it happens to contacts I haven't edited or even looked at.Īs I said, this has been going on for years with various version of Outlook and it is only getting worse, and wasting many hours of my time as another comment noted.

Rebooting Outlook to let the contacts resync doesn't I went into Contacts on the SharePoint and it shows most of the photos working, but I notice not all of the contacts are showing either. I have about 100 from this company and most work. It shows a box in the contact view windows, but no logo. My images at 300x300 dpi or less and small.įor example, I just put a 45 contacts in last night and assigned a company logo to all of them. I sync to a SharePoint Office 365 server and have an OST file.
